on Mar 07 in Lowes DIY

In the Herefordshire countryside a couple use solar panels at home to heat water and generate electricity and help them to lead the good life.

The solar panel technology has to significantly improve, Weight, Lifespan, Efficiency and cost has to be reduced before there will be a useful migration to solar power.

They like being independent but tax payers had to pay half of their cost. I wonder how much fossils it takes to make a solar panel.

Great example of people living a really good life, while being environmentally friendly as well. In areas with cold winters 3000 kWh is probably difficult to achieve for most homes, but you can indeed have considerable saving anyway – for example by installing solar thermal heating for your hot water during the summer.

Visit GCI Energy or call 800-700-1995 if you live in Socal. Save a bundle with solar panels or vinyl replacement windows. Great work and service.

I would do it ! but I looked into fully powering my house by solar – 100% and in my area it would be like 90,000 dollars… who has that money…. they don’t want you to be self sufficient america is a consumer based economy…self sufficiency is frowned upon too bad it would do a lot of good…

This is great if you live in a sunny area. I think it’s a good idea if you can afford it– and clearly this couple can afford traveling across the WORLD for a year with no jobs and looking for a home. For me, I just can’t afford it. Impossible though it is great for the environment.

ahhhhhh….finally a video that touches me in a positive way.
My wife and I are considering an older (1910) farmhouse in Norfolk, Virginia USA and energy conservation is on our minds. Being right at sea level, a well for water is out, but the idea of solar generated electricity only makes sense after the time and energy well be spending on all the insulation areas
Thanks for the information and a little nudge toward our next steps would be wondeful.
    Peace to you and yours,
    Robbie

perfect it? get your head out of your ass. solar has been in use effectively for thirty years. just keep listening to the corrupt, oil oened government for your opinions. “we americans will fool proof it”…lmao…

    greenbeenie60. Don’t give a rats eh?
Energy prices are set to rise another 40% this autumn.
UK electricity bill is going to leap from an average £1300 to £2600 virtually overnight.
    Still don’t give a rats?

  • DirtMurkDog says:

People need to stop asking fucking questions. We americans will fool proof it when it begins to become the norm for every household. Give the inventors achance to perfect it. Damn us spoiled Americans just want to have everything perfect and ready for us. lol

  • greenbeenie60 says:

sorry dont give a rats but.. most people will be like me if you can save money over time, awesome. If not this still wont catch on.

  • tc25d says:

Great idea and makes total sense. What about hail storms? How much wattage is put out? What about battery life? – I am assuming that the panels charge batteries that feed an inverter.

  • akirsch says:

    Hello.
I would love to have this installed in my country, (Mexico).
Do you think I can get somebody with experience to do it here? Or can install it myself with specific instructions?
