Boy, a Woodworking Download Sure Would Have Been Nice!

Had I Only had a Woodworking Download Before I Started!

Late last summer, I thought it would be nice to attempt and build my wife a folding ottoman WITHOUT the help of a woodworking download.  That was a huge mistake!  Needless to say, I still have a couple hundred dollars of building materials and fabric in my basement!

Can you guess what my biggest mistake was?

I did not eve consider using a woodworking download to help me along!

For some reason, I thought that if I used a guide, it would somehow make me look like I did not know what I was doing.  That was pretty foolish!  

Number one, I look foolish for having all this lumber and fabric in my basement for a project that I never finished.  

Number two, it isn’t like the guide is going to actually build the ottoman for me!  I still need to do it.  So yes, regardless of whether I used a guide or not doesn’t mean that I didn’t build it with my own two hands!

I don’t know, maybe it was a guy thing and not accepting that I needed some help with this project!

So a couple of weeks ago, I started thinking about building a wooden shelf in my kitchen.  “That sounds easy,” I thought.  Then I thought about how well my ottoman went…it’s time to start looking for a woodworking download.  I’m just not experienced enough to build ANYTHING on my own!

That night I started looking for a woodworking download on the world wide web.  Boy, there was a bunch of junk on there!  Gratefully though I did find one guide that was pretty cheap and came with a ton of information including how to do my wooden shelf.  You know what else it had in there?  A guide to build an ottoman!

Now that I am done with the wooden shelf, it’s time to build my wife that ottoman!

That was the best thing about this guide is that it had so much information that I had no idea it even had ottoman plans until AFTER I bought it!  I really found the coolest woodworking download out there today!

Not having a woodworking download when I first started building this ottoman was a HUGE mistake on my end. Now that I’m almost done with it, I am moving on to the rest of my “unfinished projects”!
