Framing a Partition Wall On The Floor

Category: Living & Bedroom

Number of Steps: 8

Make one room feel like two. First, lay out the bottom plate of the new wall, and then cut 2×4 top and soleplates to length. Measure the distance between the floor and the ceiling, or the joists, and use the layout marks to see how many studs you’ll need. Lay the soleplate on edge along the floor line, and the top plate on edge with the layout marks facing the soleplate. Once all studs have been attached to the soleplates, raise the wall and position the plates on the floor and ceiling lines.
